In my 29.2 it has a macerator. Usually this means despite having full hookups, I can't leave my grey open (well I can it just doesn't do anything) and have to run out every other day (3 of us) to turn on the macerator to dump the grey and every 4 or so for the black. I thought of doing 2 things, one is tying into the macerator switch and placing another switch inside the coach so I can operate remotely. The second thing, I had heard that they actually make electric gate valves. Wondering if anyone has ever done this or have anything like it. I thought that on higher end coaches you could dump your tanks inside the coach but I have never seen a system like that. I can bypass the macerator but by the time I fiddle with all the plumbing and contort myself into the area I need to, I might as well make it automatic since I can't bypass the black. I love having a macerator, it makes things so much cleaner and easier, but it presents a little added frequency in emptying the grey.
Most people will tell you that leaving the gate valve open all the time is asking for trouble anyway, so don't look at that as a negative even with the macerator. We use the sewer solution. It is what it is, gotta dump the grey more often. It only takes a few minutes ( and with that the grey valve can stay open, we don't do it).
As you mentioned they do make electric ones. That seems like the answer and extending the switch to inside for the macerator. My question is for those with electric ones , are they trouble free? For piece of mind and simplicity I would lean towards the manual valve. But if I bought a MH that had them, I wouldn't complain :B
