Electric Motor Home Locks

Has anyone installed any of these onto their RV? Do you recommend it? Thinking about installing one, until I saw the programming guide. Code programming is done from the outside, so looks like anyone can just walk up and re-program it at anytime.

  • "AP Products 013-531 Electric Motor Home Lock" is the one I got from Amazon. Just finished installing it. I had to enlarge the striker opening in the door frame some. It was aluminum, so I just used a grinder and a file. The initial programming was easily done. After that, it doesn't seem like you can RE-program it at all. I tried a few times. New codes didn't take until I removed the battery pack and updated the pass code like a new install.
  • Are you talking about a paddle lock using a keypad ??

If so, key pads can't be reprogrammed unless you know the security code programmed by you . Just like any other keypad, like a garage door opener .
  • I highly doubt they are designed so that anyone can simply walk up and reprogram the lock.
  • Which lock were you referring to, the battery operated ones? I witnessed a friend installing one on his door and there was a lot of fabricating involved to make it work. I slowly backed away and went to lunch......
