Electric Pigtails
New RV'er with a Class A motor home. It uses a 30 amp power. Can someone please explain going "down" from a 50a, and "up" from a 15a. I understand I can use a pigtail, 50a to my 30a with no problem...

Do NOT buy/use this type...they have a tendency to overheat

50A to 30A.......good to have
If power pedestal has 50A receptacle most likely has 30A too but sometimes the 30A Receptacle is busted up/worn out so the 50A to 30A adapter is good to use. (only one Hot leg feeds the 30A side so you get full 30A capacity and your RV Main 30A CB is your protection)
30A to 15A......use for those times when regular household outlet is only source of AC power
Good for running converter (charging battery) and maybe A/C Unit
