Electric slide locks

I have electric locks on my slide outs. While cleaning my unit the other day I noticed a black/grey residue on the walls and ceilings on the coach. I searched to see what was leaving the residue. It appears to have been created where the electric slide locks meet the coach when in the locked position. I have never noticed this before. I couldn't find anything in the owners manual. Do I need to lubricate the area where the slide locks meet the wall? and is it normal for the residue to be on the inside ceiling and walls? I have a 2012 Itasca Suncruiser 37F

  • Same exact thing happened to my slide locks. The MH had in storage for a few months.. then unlocked and moved the slides out. and above the locks was a residue that easily wiped off.
I reasoned that whatever lubricant that was on the lock/screw dried up and when I actuated the lock it deposited the fine powder on the ceiling above the lock.
  • I use a pipe cleaner to clear out the weep holes on my Journey. Despite having a slide awning, dirt, dust and water can get under it and fill the plastic well the slide lock is located in. Once a quarter I clean out the holes so water doesn't back up and overflow into the cabinet and interior on my MH.

    Best Regards!
  • There is something about cleaning that out in the owner's manual of our 2012 37f Adventurer.
  • It's horizontal blowing rain right now, so I can't (won't) verify, but my RV Tech said to clean out the weep hole at the exterior wall where the lock is located. Apparently water can back up from there? I'll check later.
