Fluorescent tubes or incandescent bulbs? If it's a fluorescent tube fixture, then the 12VDC ballast may be bad. Not sure where you checked the power source, but check the wires supplying power to the fixture and not the bulb socket itself to verify that power is indeed going to the fixture in the first place. If it is, then you could have a bad switch or a bad fixture altogether.
