My 2003 34' Bounder Diesel could turn sharp enough for the trailer to make contact with the back of the MH (there were scratches to prove it). My new coach is longer and will also turn sharp enough to make contact with the trailer. I modified the trailer last year to make the tongue longer.
Wow, that surprises me, since no motorhome has a tighter turning radius than a typcial truck or car, millions of which tow trailers every day with standard length tongues. Although, I suppose that the width of the trailer and TV would also come into play. My trailer's actual body is only 7' wide with a standard 4.5' tongue length. Behind the MH, I can't turn tight enough to hit, and even behind my 2006 Tahoe, which has an very tight turning radius, I can't turn tight enough to hit, but of course both are relatively narrower than a Class A and a car-hauler combo. So if you guys are actually hitting, I have to assume that it's the width of the TV/trailer that is the difference, and what necessitates a longer tongue.
