Engine battery recommendations

Hi everyone. Any recommendations on an engine battery replacement? I don't see any specs in the owners manual. I bought a 2003 itasca sun cruiser, only 40k miles on it, but the previous owner, had it a year, and didn't have any history on the vehicle.

I thought about trickle charging it, but it looks pretty rough, thought I'd just start fresh.

I can deal with the house batteries later, they're ok.

Thanks in advance

  • I'd get the biggest meanest battery that will fit the available space.
  • Eskins,

    Things you should know...
Most 35Us were on a WorkHorse Chassis and were either a Ford 6.8 or a GM 8.1. As both are gas engines, any good starting battery that fits in the space will work for you. Look at the battery. It will have a number on the top like 27, 27F, 34-72 or the something, write that number in the owner's manual. Just match the number.

Before you do that, is the battery bad? Charge it, let it sit for a day. If it cranks the engine, it is good. If it seems bad, clean the terminals and try again.

  • What chassis is the rig on?
Ford would normally be an F-53
Workhorse could vary on chassis model.
