"lakebum:.....As stated, you'll get use to using it. However, you stated that you'll leave it on, especially in traffic. That is one of the few times you want to turn it off. If you're in slow and go traffic at 40 or so, it's fine.
Typically, most exhaust brakes will not engage under 15 mph, but in stop in go traffic where you get above that, you'll get some real abrupt braking using the exhaust brake in that situation.
Some use their exhaust brake to excess. You need to use your service brakes around time to keep them from burnishing as stated above. Not a huge issue, but you'll eventually get some annoying brake squeal if you never or rarely use the service brakes.
