Sounds to me like you don't have the belt aligned correctly around the components. Some of your components like the smog pump or a/c compressor have 2-3 slots on them for different belts. If you have the belt in the wrong groove, the belt is not going 100% straight around all 3 components, causing it to be thrown almost instantly. You'll figure it out, it's just common sense. A good, tight, properly aligned belt will not come off. Get your head down where you can see the exact alignment of the belts, I bet you'll find one is in the wrong groove.
