Here is a solid lead...If you have any shorted batteries it will cause your alt to short and lock up........causing ..squealing and stinking belts AND thrown off belts,even rolled belts. It will be free when the power is cut to it and spin normally.
I would disconnect all batteries, install a known good one for the engine to get you started and home.
