That means they are charged enough to start only......without in depth analysis you cannot confirm their internal condition.....when you go back with a different alt. , battery, new belt and before you start it up disconnect the aux batteries from the system..you don't need them to get home...Your alt has a built in REGULATOR.....that could be malfunctioning ...install a known good alt.....
