Exchanging a couch for a chair

Has anyone had a couch pulled and replace with a lounge chair? We have a 2013 Ambassador with Villa International furniture. We want to pull the love seat couch and replace it with a lounge chair. Problem is finding information on a chair that might match. Guess I'm looking for an opinion. Do you think it matters if it's not the same kind of furniture? Just curious if anyone else has done this and problems you may have had.

  • Thanks to everyone. To make it more exciting our dealer has a small fireplace they took out of another unit. It will fit with the chair so we feel like we have a total remodel happening. Excited.
    Thanks again.
  • Several years ago we removed a J-couch on the drivers side and replaced it with a leather double recliner (LazyBoy wall hugger). The recliner has a metal frame and bolts to the floor the same as the old J couch. Also installed seat belts (JC Whitney)and my wife rides with her feet up. One of our best modifications.
  • In our last coach, we replaced our sofa bed with 2 swivel recliners. They did not match exact style or color but were close enough to compliment. We were happy.

Mix or match the way you want. You will have to live with it and my opinion will not be sitting on the chair so my opinion does not matter.
  • Mine is a fiver but that shouldn't matter in this case. I found that by looking for a narrow chair, I was able to fit two wall huggers in the space where the Jack knife sofa was.
  • We had 2 couches in our coach when we bought it. We very quickly removed the passenger side couch (4 screws) and replaces it with a desk and recliner. We have done this modification a couple of times and we now have different hardware but still hardware that makes us smile every time we walk in the coach.
Do what makes you happy. Get rid of a second couch without a second thought. I even got rid of our dining area and replaced it with a bar and stool setup which we use from time to time but freed up a ton of living space.
Make your coach your coach and when it's time to sell (if ever) you can worry about right or wrong and either revel in your brilliance or take a small hit for your enjoyment.
  • We just recently took out one of the swivel rockers out of our Timber Ridge 260RLS and replaced it with a leather chair like this one from Costco - http://www.costco.ca/Ari-Top-Grain-Leather-Recliner.product.100089911.html This isn't exactly what we bought and the one we purchased was shipped as two separate pieces. I easily moved the new chair into the trailer and put it together in there.
  • I have wondered is it possible to get the couch out the narrow door of the coach?
  • Lazy Boy has a lot of options if you are willing to wait for a special ordered chair. Many different fabric, leather options/colors.
  • Sounds to me likea personal choice.
If it does not bother you that the furniture matches that is the important thing.
