The idea isn't to just vent the odors , it's to remove the grease etc from the air and that's done with the filters. I liked my vented model but the negative is the vent leaks a lot of heat/ cooling from the Rig and the vent cover either Is Left locked (useless vent ) or forgot re lock lclosed and bangs open and closed driving down the road at least it did on mine.
