Hi,
We travel with 2, or sometimes 3 dogs. We found that 2 or more do better than 1, as they keep each other company and are less likely to get bored and chew on something. As far as leaving them:
1. We leave the genset running and the air on if it's warm / hot outside.
2. If not too hot, we leave all of the roof vents open, and the exhaust fan running. We also plug a 12v fan into the dash power port, and leave that running.
3. Leave plenty of water.
4. Leave their favorite toy's and something for them to chew on.
5 We cover the cab windows, and leave the dinette windows un-covered (they like to lay on the dinette seats and look out).
We always plan "pet friendly" routes, and have never run into a situation where the dogs weren't welcome (always carry some "poop" bags).
Hope that this helps!
