We have travelled many miles with our dogs and have never left them in the RV, unatended or out of site. On the occassion when we would go into a store or restaurant, we would park within site and check on them at least every 20 to 30 minutes. Most often, when shopping, we would go to outside malls, where I could walk the dog and my wife could go into the stores. We even found restaurants that were okay with us eating on the patio with our dogs at our side. When considering whether to leave your dogs in the RV, ask yourself this, "Would it be safe to leave my children in the RV?" My philosophy is better to be safe than sorry. If you're uncertain, I would suggest talking to your Vet about your plans. Enjoy your trip.
