Just a couple of experiences here. I bought a power train warranty extension on a new GM van from GM and it paid for itself right at the end when there was a whine in the rear end that sounded like it was the transmission and the dealer charged $1000 to find and fix it.
When buying a used class C motorhome the sales manager gave me a real spiel on a coach warranty. I declined and the next day at pick up she said it was her mistake - it should have cost twice as much but she would honour her offer anyway if I took it that day. I went out to the shop where the guys were prepping the MH, one of them a former student of mine. I mentioned the warranty and they told me it was a scam - void the moment I drove the MH on a gravel road.
