Extended Warranties

Will be taking delivery on a 2006 Tradewinds 40D ands interested in options for an extended warranty. What's worked?
  • I choose a extended warranty with a good company to at least help with cost if the motor goes out or transmission takes a dive, 4 year warranty covers everything, yes it cost $4800.00 but hate to buy a expensive used motorhome to find out it has a bad motor..

Check what it cost to replace the motor than think about the extended warranty, you never really know what the last person that owned how they took care of it..
  • For a 2006 coach, a lot of policies have too many exclusions to make them worthwhile. The fine print will kill you. Some will not cover any seals and gaskets after 6 years. Others exclude anything to do with the slideout structure, roof leaks, etc. Belts and hoses are almost always excluded. Some require full maintenance records which very few people will have on a used RV.
Just be sure that you understand ALL of the exclusions before you pay the thousands that it will cost. Accept nothing unless it is in writing. Verbal promises are worthless.
  • If you have an interest... Check wholesalewarranties.com for pricing and coverage. I have always said no to warranties until now but peace of mind on an old unit may be worth something to you and these folks usually have competitive prices. You want an exclusionary policy and you want seals and gasket coverage.

And absolutely check the age of the tires.
  • 2006 thats geting back there a bit, take the asking price of the policy and bank it, also if it don,t have new tires go get them if there over 5yrs old.if you really read any rv policy they talk big but you get very little real coverage. beware .
