:) Hi, Never, ever, ever buy an extended warranty unless it is from the manufacturer of the product.
Why ? Just curious why you feel that way !
I have one that is NOT thru the manufacturer and I've had very good service with it. In fact, I doubt you can get an extended service contract on a used unit thru the manufacturer.
:) Hi, I tried to answer your question, but this forum had problems and wouldn't let me post.
As an employee of new car dealers since 1968, I seen a lot. Also as a mechanic, service advisor, and shop foreman I have dealt with after market warranty companies. I have seen claims denied because the owner couldn't show proof of an oil change two years prior. I have seen cars sitting on the lot with engines or transmissions torn apart, for weeks waiting for an OK. I have seen junk yard parts shipped to the dealer for these warranty claims. Luckily for some customers, one of the dealers that I worked at had a policy preventing the use of used/junk yard parts. You, the owner, are responsible for the cost of tear down and to diagnose the problem. Then if your claim is denied you have a non-working worthless vehicle. Customers were then left with the choice to pay for the repairs, junk their cars, or trade them in for hundreds of dollars instead of maybe thousands of dollars.
And then there are some who actually got their cars fixed. The after market warranty companies also want to cut the labor costs in half. I have personally spent more time on the phone with an after market warranty company that it took for the mechanic to fix the car. There is a reason for the pages of fine print; And it is for the warranty company to find a way to deny your claim.
