To keep it short the a/c compressor froze up and threw the belt. This tore up the clutch fan wiring and prohibited the water pump from turning thus the egr cooler and cylinder head overheated. We were traveling on the NJ turnpike when the warning lights and alarms went off.
The insurance co is set on replacing the compressor and clutch fan only. They are declining the approx $10,000 engine repairs because it was damaged by the compressor.
The chassis and engine mfg will not honor any claim due to the compressor being the
cause.
Can anyone offer some advise?
I think your only hope is if your policy has something similar to the following that I copied from my policy:
32. Optional Non-Covered Part Cause of Loss: In the event a Breakdown occurs on a Covered Part under the Service Contract due to the failure of a non-Covered Part, the Covered Part will be repaired (as an exception to the standard exclusion).
33. Optional Covered Part Cause of Loss: The non-Covered Part will be repaired (as an exception to the standard exclusion).
