Exterior water filter leaks

I have an exterior whole coach water filter. I just changed the cartridge and now there is a small leak around the top. Can I put a little Teflon tape around the threads? I had heard that Teflon shouldn’t be used on plastic threads.
  • Lost mine too. Carry an extra now. Take your canister with you to the store as I have found there are a few different sizes depending on the canister mfg.
Maybe Doug or Old-Biscuit can tell you size if you post brand of canister.
  • Yes, the o ring is missing. It is common to fall out when changing filter element. Hopefully it fell right where you changed it out.
  • Folks do it ll the time.

Plastic threads are typically self sealing.

If that exterior filter is canister type then check that o-ring is in-place and not damaged

Did the o-ring fall out? I did that once when changing the filter and I actually lost the O-ring and didn't notice. Seeped water out the top and set off my water alarms I installed. I had to get another at Home Depot.
