Extra Options

In a previous post someone mentioned that they ordered a Newmar and one of his options was a Power Tek generator. My question is are there more options available that aren't published in the Brochures? Is this something available on a Dutch Star or is it only available on the three Luxury Motorhomes?

Thanks for you input.

Shop carefully. 10 years ago, PowerTek RV generators were not in an enclosure and you got to listen to all the engine noise and a much louder exhaust system then an Onan. Blue Bird and Country Coach used a lot of PowerTeks and they were noisy. Hopefully things have changed and the noise has been reduced. Flack jacket on.

PowerTech APU's are custom built for OEM's. Their main market is the Marine industry. So, the OEM specifies what they want on the APU. Like extra quiet housing and even if there is a 12 volt charge module. MOST RV Powertech APU's do not have a 12 volt charge module. You can add one very easily. But, yes, certain models were very noisy, but that is the fault of the Motorhome maker and not PowerTech. Doug
  • Our 2004 model year Motorhome has a 10KW Power Tech Generator in a Quite Box and you can barely hear it run.

Strange....My 8KW PT isnt that noisy and I sleep on the sofa right about it!!?? As far as a racket outside that was caused by the spark arrestor ( an abortion if there ever was one) and 75% of the noise went away after removing that device. * 2 screws!!
  • I wasn't asking about Power Tek per se, instead I was just asking if there were options available that aren't listed in the brochures. I wouldn't select a Power Tek even if they recommended it.

  • The ONLY correct answer is for you to contac Newmar and ask if it is an option. NOBODY, unless they are a Newmar dealer or Newmar can give you the correct answer. Newmar online does NOT show any Power Tech option available on any of their Diesel motorhomes----Onan only. According to Newmar, you have to have the dealer submit a "special" request to install a Power Tech and Newmar will evaluate the request, but Newmar stated they do not usually do this. They do not stock Power Tech and would have to order one. Doug
