F53 oxygen sensor

I had my check engine light come on recently and after reading the code it seems I need to change an oxygen sensor out. Seems to me that at 23K miles it's a little premature for a failure. Has anybody had this same problem on this chassis?
  • Electronics. There ain't no tellin'. They fail quickly or last forever. However, the O2 sensor might come under the 5 year/ 50,000 mile air pollution warranty.

    g'luck!
  • Have a friend and his came on in less than 2000 miles.

    Dealer fixed under warranty.
  • If you give me year engine size and code I'll tell you how to check it very easy to do
  • How old is the RV? Most last 100,000 miles and are replaced at about 7 years old. I had to replace mine at about 45,000 miles when it was 15 years old on my 97 460" V8 Ford.

I do not consider it unreasonable. The part cost me only about $55, it is the same one used on the 1996 F-350 with the same engine.

I installed it myself, there is plenty of room under the RV to get to it.

  • Hi All.

Do you have any "SMOG" requirements where you live. A hose could have easily come lose. I have had that happen to me several times, but not a Sensor. Do you know anyone who has the same Motorhome as you do? What Motor do you have?. Doesn't really matter, a 454, a 460 or the V10, you can try one from a car also

If so, see if they will let you try out their sensor. That would only take you a few seconds to check it out. I've even seen many Motorhomes Fail do to their Gas Caps, of all things.

Good Luck. Happy TYravels, Dan & Jill & our two small "YORKIE KIDS' who love to travel as much as we do.
