F53 starter solenoid

Where is the starter solenoid located on the Ford F53 460 engine?

Thanks for the replies-will look for it in a couple days. This has been a bear to start. Turning on and off ignition, jiggling the shift lever etc.

That really does sound like the relay is going. $40 OEM part from Ford. You'll need limber fingers, and a good light to see what you're doing to replace it.

    I hate getting old.

The starter solenoid is attached to the starter. The starter RELAY is under the doghouse. The relay is the one that more commonly needs replacement.

    X2

Starter relay goes often. Located on the frame rail under the doghouse to the right and below the gas pedal. You'll need a flashlight to spot it.

Right about where your right foot rests while driving, but on the engine side of the doghouse cover.
  • My Coachmen had it located under the engine cap on the inside at the driver side .
