What? FMCA will take your money and let ANYONE become a member. Then you have to Kiss a chapter's *** to get a membership from them?
In all my recent dealings with almost 50 FMCA Chapter Presidents, I have NEVER heard of a prospective chapter member being voted on as to whether they could join the chapter or not. We get a monthly list of those motorhome owners who have joined FMCA that are in our "catchment" area, and as Chapter Presidents, we contact them to gauge their interest in joining a specific chapter
My chapter's catchment area is roughly the state of VA, but we would never reject an FMCA member who wanted to join our chapter whose home was not in VA. We have members now who are from NC, VA, MD, PA and NJ. We even schedule our monthly rallies in those states to ensure all members get to come.
As for the FMCA membership vote to change the organization by-laws to allow "towable" RVs, I don't see an Executive Board fix on that vote. Informal pole of about 20 of my fellow chapter members, and none were planning to vote for the change. Most are happy with being a motorhome organization, and feel FMCA is getting better as the RV industry as a whole gets better.
