- nevadanickExplorerYes, for me it was twice the cost of Progressive.
- LetsRVExplorerCouple of years ago was shopping insurance. Got a quote for 2 autos, 1 mothorhome, two houses and umbrella.
Farmers came back with a number that was second highest I had. Oh by the way they also forgot to include the motorhome. Realize this is the fault of the agent but just shows how high their numbers were.
You might want to check around. - craig7hNomad III had all my insurance through AARP (Hartford)till last year. Did a review with them and Farmers. When all was said and done Farmers was a little higher but went with them anyway. I guess I like the local agent idea better than just online. The RV part of Farmers is done through Foremost, still under the Farmers brand. I have two cars, house and rv with them will see how they stack up in a year.
- azdryheatExplorerAll of my insurance needs are covered by Farmers. Great service when I had a claim.
- Trigger_HappyExplorerHad Farmers for 2 years but got way to costly. Shop around a bit for the best coverage and cost.
- Monkeyman_and_LExplorerThanks for the replies everyone.
Our situation is that our current insurance company is insanely expensive for our Auto coverage, but when we shopped around for a package we ended up nearly where they have us.
So far, the Farmer's quote is about 800/year better. May not seem like crazy money, but that'll make a payment on the motorhome. So, nothing to sneeze upon.
I'll let you know how it goes. - tropical36ExplorerAfter all, Farmer's have a museum to support, so.....:R
Give state farm and Allstate a call, as well as progressive and Gieco.
One of those should suffice. - tinstartrvlrExplorerInsurance companies. Always such a fun topic. :)
- CampwmeExplorerWe just last week switched to Farmers. Already had them for our cars, at the time they had nothing available for our motorhome. He called us and gave us a great quote when it became available. Little over $200 yr in savings switching to Farmers, we also now have our home owners insurance with them. Total about $400 in savings between the 2.
- NCC-1701ExplorerSwitched to Farmers in mid November last year. I had Progressive for my three private vehicles, motorhome, boat, and ATV. Another company for my home. Farmer's saved me approx 30% in the end for better insurance. I have only had a few comp claims over the years, no "at fault" accidents, but Progressive kept jacking my rates. I usually do a complete rebid every 3 years or check sooner if there is a big increase. I had been with Progressive many years. Despite all their proclaimed discounts, etc. they had become uncompetitive. The biggest savings were on my motorhome and homeowners.
No one else had beat Progressive or the other smaller "regional" insurer I had my homeowners with for many, many years. The Farmer's agent said I met the criteria of exactly what Farmers liked, hence the low rates...I guess that means someone that pays in, but virtually never extracts back out or has 'At Fault" accidents.
My experience with insurance is they start out lower, then keep edging it up year after year, even if you are a "perfect" client, until someone else hungry wants your insurance premiums more. The key is to periodically bid out all your insurance and see what comes back for pricing.
