Thanks for all the feedback! I agree that it seems floor plan is the key. If anyone has ideas of other floorplans or models that could work for regularly sleeping a family of 4 adults -- I'd love to hear your ideas. Finding a Class A that comfortably sleeps 4 adults on a regular basis seems a bit harder than I hoped. I think this floor plan could address that. I read some comments about the bunk being narrower than a twin - so we need to do a test nap with an adult up there. We like to watch a movie together in the evenings -- so this floor plan makes those family bonding times more comfortable.
blknomad. The monitor for the cameras and the handling are my personal concerns. The class A on the ford chassis seemed to ride smoother than in our Greyhawk which is a Class C on ford chassis. Perhaps the "cheap handling fix" will give us a bit more. We never did that on our Class C. Do you find it loud in the front? This one seemed a little noisier than another class A I drove. However, it is quieter than our Class C.
Effy - On the towing -- we do want to tow but our current cars are too heavy to tow. We are waiting to either have our 15 year old get a car that is towable or my husband is about ready to trade his in. That said -- we do things like have my husband drive all the boys to boy scout camp and then meet up with my other son and I to go camping while the boys camp. It has been a fun way to get to see some different areas. Personally, I'd love for us to get the towing figured out. I like playing navigator better.
On the L shaped J couch. My 15 year old loves it because it is large, soft and pulls out. It has that higher backside cushion when pulled out - but it seems like it would work well for a single person to sleep. Don't know that I would want to sleep on that as a couple. Has anyone found it is too soft and gets uncomfortable over time?
jfskeet - The interior storage is definitely something I am thinking through. We have thought about giving up the oven for a couple more drawers. I think there is enough space in the master closet area for 4 people's clothes. Teenage boys seem to only want to wear one outfit anyway. :-) We are also giving up a little more storage by having the drop down bunk. How have you made the interior storage work?
I really appreciate the perspective. Seems like I can't go wrong with a Winnebago -- as long as we can find enough room for the people we carry regularly. We definitely don't want to get another class C and are both terrified of pulling a trailer.
Thanks,
