We could not stand the stock bed combo. I took out the sofa and built a bed.
Read about it here.
There are a couple of things I would do differently ...snip
Snowman, I just love when you talk all Trail Litey to me!
I love everything about the mods you did. But I am not as down on the existing super king that the OEM dinette/sofa creates to do the work of changing, and even if I were, Martha isn't on board.
I'm 6'3" and she's 5'10" tall. In king bed mode, she sleeps diagonally on the dinette w. feet pointed to cab and the aisle. head near outer RV wall and kitchen counter. Peanut takes the freeed-up dinette corner behind the driver seat. We added foam to dinette cushions. I sleep on the stock padded sofa against the opposite wall and often my feet hang off and touch the passenger seat. Our newest adoptee, Boudreaux, a big shepherd mix sleeps in the expansive space between us, and sometimes Red starts the nite there, as well.
We figure the RV is so much better than a tent, that we are camping in high cotton. It's not home, but that's the RV point.
I would love the wider aisle during the day, and if I was handier w/ mods, things might be different...But I am not sure I could match the day use comfort of the existing sofa. Might have to substitute its absence w/ swivel cab seats.
