Finally found one! - Coachmen CC 354

Well, after months of looking and endless hours researching online, none of which I'll ever get back, we found the one. 02' Coachmen Cross Country 354. We flew to Tampa last week to pick it up. Drove it 1,000 miles back to STL and it went great! The only issue was the furnace made a hell of a racket when it was running. I took the outer cover off, tightened a few bolts and it was perfect.

It drives really well and everything works as it should. It's a one owner unit which was bought and maintained at the dealership we bought it from. I really liked that fact and was one of the main reasons we bought it. My wife and I are in our mid 30's and with a 5 year old and a 1 year old, we will put it to good use. Thanks again to everyone for all of their input and advice, it was very useful.

The only complaint I have is the generator hour meter ticks fairly loud. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper although that type of noise makes it hard for me to fall asleep. Is there anything I can do to quite it down? Or could it be moved to the outside or replaced with a digital one?

  • Thanks everyone, we really like it. It has a 300 Cummins with 6 speed Allison tranny on a freightliner chassis.

I really like the fact all service was done at the dealer and the owner provided every manual and ducument that came with it new. It was taken care of really well although the interior was pretty dirty from foot traffic while at the dealer. They didn't clean it much at all which my wife was not happy with. Being a guy I'm not too picky although I agreed it was pretty dirty. We were kind of in a tough spot since we're from out of state and had to be home in 3 days. We're negotiating with the dealer although I don't think they will help us out which is too bad. I had it detailed today. It was wiped down, vacuumed, carpets shampooed and all upholstery cleaned and dry cleaned. Also had all of the leather (or whatever material it is)chairs and couch conditioned. It looks great other than the flowerer upholstery. Not sure what's up with that?!!! Haha...

I'll check into the gen stack issue. I'm assuming it runs the exhaust up and out? How does that help if everyone else around you has a ground exhaust. Is there a defector we should put in the coach?
  • Congratulations on the new rig. Looks very nice.

You could try to contact the generator manufacturer to get the specs on the hour meter. With that info, you should be able to find a suitable replacement.

Regarding the generator and it's exhaust fumes, you can easily make a home made genturi to exhaust those above roof level at a cost of less than $25.00.

    Enjoy your motorhome.

  • I'd more worried about sleeping in a new to you coach with the generator running without a Gen-Turi or similar generator exhaust stack. Deaths are not unheard of at sporting events from adjacent exhaust fumes penetrating the Rv beside them. We have been "gassed" before at rallies in the "generator" section by those without generator stacks from both generators and diesel fired hydronic heating systems.
  • Congrats on the new coach! It looks clean and shiny, especially, for a 2002. Looks like the previous owner took very good care of it!

What is the chassis and size engine?

    Enjoy and safe travels,
    MM.
