I think van campers (on the order of Sportmobile and Westfalia on the VW) and B motorhomes are two separate markets. Starting with similar vans, there may be $20K difference in the cost of fittings for a camper vs a tiny luxury home or luxury travel vehicle. This is enough difference to appeal to different classes of buyers.
Except for a couple of small converters, and PleasureWay's Traverse on the small Econoline, the "camper" end of the market seems to have been neglected since VW stopped importing the Transporter and Winnebago had to stop offering the Westfalia T4 camper. Even the Traverse was a bit too upscale, pushing prices out of reach of the potential buyers.
I'm kind of happy to see Winnebago trying to find this market niche again, I'll be looking at it when it comes to my area. The Era covers the B motorhome market, we don't really need another Era on a different platform. It may keep me from having to do my own camper conversion.
