According to Winnebago, the reason they can not use a gas/electric HWH in the travaoto with its current placement being under the dinette seat, is based on highway safety regulations. The gasoline fill for the vehicle is on the exterior, right behind the drivers door, and there needs to be 3 feet of space between propane exhaust and gasoline according to some safety regulation.. of course moving the hwh, or the heat exchanger option might be a great fix to this problem.. i am going to speak to a dealer on friday about this possiblity.
Meanwhile, i would be curious from sue to know how long it takes to get hot water using the generator for power. For anyone who has had an under the chassis mounted generator, Are they quieter or just as noisy as generators that are located under the couch or in a rear compartment like many b vans (falcon, airstream b190, etc)?
