Sounds like a good application for the Truma Combi LP combination water heater and furnace that's currently awaiting certification for the US market. It uses a sealed combustion chamber and vents via small inlet and outlet tubes that could be routed away from fuel sources. European Ducato (Promaster) conversions often have Truma Combi units under the dining seat.
