The icebergs finally melted enough for me to get the jacks under it and the cherry picker in the door. I did the remainder of the underneath work (removing starter, TC bolts, etc.) in ice cold run-off...

Hi Jimmy, the good thing about Chevy 454 engines is that they are alike for many years. The transmission mount, motor mounts, exhaust manifolds, and more stayed the same for a long time. Around 1990, they went to fuel injection but your intake should bolt on. Check with a junk yard and have them check their exchange book to see what years of 454 will fit in the beast. You should be able to find a newer engine in better shape than a mid 80's. Good luck with the project.
Thanks. I'll have to do some more research, but from what I've read there were some changes to the block from 95-up. I'm not sure what's interchangeable.
