Looking to buy our first motorhome, and one of our "must have" features is dual pane windows. Having attended a few RV shows and visited a few dealers in WV, Ohio, and Kentucky, my experience has been that dual pane seems to be available only on MHs where it is standard equipment. My impression is that dealers do not order dual pane as an option for new units for their inventory.Since we will be buying used, and since I'm likely to have to travel a great distance to find a MH that meets our needs, I've done a lot of research to determine what makes and models and what years of MHs have dual pane glass as standard, expecting that my choices will be limited to those. I expect that I should forget about any realistic possibility of finding dual pane glass on a MH where it was an available option.Is this a reasonable expectation? Or are there areas of the country (perhaps the North) where dealers will commonly order the dual pane glass option, so used units with it will be more common?Thanks,Wayne

One of the largest dealers in the country is right here in Florida. Dual pane windows perform as well in hot temperatures as they do in cold weather. The last time I looked at Class A's on their lot, most of the used units that were newer than 2000, had dual pane windows. I think that most of the mid range, and above Class A's will have dual pane windows and that some of the entry level class A's may not. If you are looking for older than 2000, you may find it a little more difficult to find one with dual pane windows.

We have a 2000 Monaco that has dual pane windows as standard equipment.

I agree with Rgatijnet1, most Class A MHs from 2000 on up should have dual paned windows. When we were looking last year, I don't think we found any in the mid price ranges that didn't have them. You didn't mention what length or price range you were looking for, but the 2003 and up Fleetwood Discovery and Excurions all have dual paned windows and they're available all over the country, though some people were a little too proud of them. I'm not sure why you're looking for them as an "option" when they are available on so many MHs as standard equipment?There are lots of MHs for sale with dual paned windows on the east coast, especially Florida. Some of the largest dealers are in Texas which isn't that far away. It would be a two day drive to get it home. We flew from Alaska to Colorado to buy ours last year.Bill

My 06 dp Bounder came with dual pane standard. I have three at the moment that are fogging. Down the road, I plan on having all windows repaired. I have dual pane in the s+b and love them. The sound deadening effects alone are worth the extra cost IMHO.

Dual Pan was standard on Beavers going back prior to 2000.

Your statement got me wondering since I was almost sure that mine had dual panes listed as an option on the window sticker. So I looked it up on the Winnebago website, and 2 of the 3 available Grand Tour Vectra models in 1996 had "Dual Glazed, Thermo Insulated" windows listed as an option. The smallest unit didn't even have them available as an option.

I'm sure your right that the newer ones mostly have them, or don't. After all, mine was made back in the dark ages. Anyway, I'm glad mine has them, and amazingly they are all fog free with seals intact!

Country Coaches went to dual-pane (not dual pain!) in late 90's. Not sure of the exact year. I can't remember any brochure I've seen on any coach where dual-pane windows were optional. Either the coach came with them, or it didn't. Dual-pane windows make a tremendous difference in noise level inside. Also, they have about triple the insulation value of a single-pane window. Retrofitting dual-pane windows can be very expensive--much more cost effective for the coach to already have them.

Our MY2000 HR Vacationer was built in August 1999 with dual pane windows. At that time the windows were an option.

Dual pane windows became standard on most Winnebago products about 2004. However they were optional several years prior to that. We had dual pane windows as an option on our 2001 Adventurer. Here's a link to the brochures of Winnebago products available on line:

I Love Newmar products. If I had the money, I would buy a new or late-model one.

According to the product brochures, Dutch Star and Mountain Aire first had dual pane glass as standard in model year 2003. Scottsdale/Canyon Star, Kountry Star, and Ventana all first in 2006 model year.

These mentions of Newmar products before 2003 with dual pane at least tell me that those dealers/customers (often?) ordered the optional dual pane glass. That is good to know!

The gas coach in your signature has dual pane windows. They have been standard on all Canyon Stars since their introduction in 2007 model year, and on the predecessor Scottsdale in model year 2006. Bay Star is the only recent model Newmar product with single pane glass standard.
