emergency exit windows in motorhomes

Nadia, I also thought that it was the law to have an emergency exit in the bedroom. I would call Tiffin to see why you don't have one.

There is a chance maybe they put two regular windows and missed the required emergency window. Either way, I would find a way to make one of them an emergency window.

I saw an ad that Amercian Coach offers a new 'exit' option. There is a door in the bedroom where steps can be dropped down for a normal exit. Looked good in the ad, I would like to see it in person as the picture was only showing the outside. It might be the new wave!

In my coach, the difference between the regular window and the emergency window in the bedroom area is a red locking mechanism. They both open the exact same amount. The lock is exactly the same except it is red instead of bronze colored. Perhaps they just installed a window with the wrong colored lock.

I believe a MH must have 2 separate ways out of each separate room. Since the bedroom is a separate room, there must be a window there in addition to the regular entry/exit hallway. In addition, if there is only one door to the RV (eg: no driver's side door), there must be an additional window that can be used as an emergency exit in the living area.

Do you have an emergency window anywhere? It should be apparent from the red handles....and they will open with a stiff push at the bottom, hinged at the top.

What model Tiffin do you Have?

Get one of those thing that breaks glass. There is your emergency exit.

I don't think it is a Federal law requiring one. I suspect it is an RVAA requirement though and if your rig has a RVAA tag on it (and I believe Tiffin rigs do or should) You should have an emergency exit.
