- J-RoosterExplorerRickLap, the hinge is on them to practice fire drills and they can be used over and over again! Good question, and no I never opened mine yet!
- crassterExplorer IIOur bounder has an emergency window, but our Toyota has a "kick" window. This is the type of window that you have to remove by kicking the glass. I've tought time and time again about removing it and installing an emergency type.
- ralbert3ExplorerEveryone should open the window before you might need it. I made sure ours works and when it was opened I greased it with dielectric so that the seal would keep water out and if and when it was needed it would reopen. I think that three people died in a motorcoach fire do to the window being sealed to the rubber and not being able to be pushed open. One heck of a way to loose your life. Check out Mac the fire guy and watch his video. I open ours every year to make sure all is well. I also have a wooden stick cut the proper size to hold the window open if needed. If the window is not proped open getting out will not be easy. Rob
- John_WayneExplorer IISome will open part way enough to put 303 on the rubber seal so it doesn't stick closed, BUT if opened to far the whole window will fall off the MH. National has some that work this way and Winnabago is that way also. Some have a string or rope that you pull this type will release the glass which will fall out.
If you can't see a hinge at the top don't press your luck open it enough to lube the rubber seal and that's all. - gatorcqExplorerOurs is hinged at the top. Only 1 handle on the right side. Pull down, bottom latch slides. Push open, if it has not been used or tried, then it is possible the old lube will make it stick. Push on the bottom. When closing let is slam down, away from the window about 10 inches. DOES NOT LEAK AFTER USE.

This is one of my complaints, I believe when you buy a RV they should show you how it works, could save a life. All 5 of the RV's that I have owned can be opened and reclosed. Give it a try.
Instead of it being 1 of your complaints just ask before you buy!!! Problem solved... If this is your only complaint your a lucky man or you just like to complain...
I've been camping since 1955 and I must say every unit I bought the dealer or person I bought it from explained everything (some times I asked questions too)... Including the E-Access...
Most of the newer units sold have the reuseable E-Windows installed...
Without knowing your make, model and year no one could give you the correct answer...

- workhardplayha1ExplorerThere are different styles. If you have the type that slides open for normal use and has lock levers that are open the frame of the window during an emergency there is a seal in the window that may leak after the emergency part of the window has been opened.
- EmptypocketsExplorerWe have had two trailers with the emergency window with one red lever - the hinge at the top allows it to be used over & over.
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerRicklap, if your emergency window is like ours, it is hinged at the top with two red levers at the bottom that you turn to release the bottom of the window.
