On my Coachmen 18bh they put an emergency exit window in the back. Unfortunately, you can't open it (It clearly says "Emergency EXIT only!") the same way as a normal window does. It has a screen (which I don't get) :?Seems to be a hinge on the top and the window pushes open. To open it, you have to push a bar that you unhook and push outward to open the window.Just curious... is it ok to open these for normal use or are they a one time use since it says "Emergency EXIT only."This is it...Its the back window.You can see the bar.**Updated the pictures with my camper. I realized I have the frameless windows.

Those windows should be opened from time to time to insure they don't stick shut if needed. Clean and lube the rubber seals to insure easy opening.

What do you use to lube the seals?Is it ok to use normally during camping if it can be propped open?

Yes it is just a window that can be used as a escape route use it any time and as often as you want....

The rear window on mine clearly states that it is for emergency use only and is not hinged. The whole window, frame and all, falls out for easier and faster exit. I've been told that if you try, you'll likely never get it properly sealed again. Mine is as wide as the queen bed, and I imagine its pretty heavy, but I've resisted the temptation to try it out. All the other windows open just fine.

This topic reminds me that my emergency exit is a whole 3 feet from the door. I was thinking about it a while ago and cant picture a scenario where the emergency exit would actually be useful...

There is a notch in the red handle that will allow the window to remain open. When I removed it on our Rockwood 2903 TT to tint it I had to open then slide it sideways to remove it. Just tipping it up did nothing.

Wether the glass is made to fall out or not is indicated by the location of the warning.
I believe when the exit ONLY sign is on the glass the glass falls out when opened but if the warning is on or nearest the levers the glass is hinged and you are being warned you can fall out by accident.
What kind the OP has I can't say.

Ours has been opened several times by visiting children that we forgot to warn about them. The glass could be put somewhere safe and than returned when you want to close the window. Our bunk room has four windows so we have never needed to have it open but we could. Now I remember not to give a child that bunk.

I have the same window in the bunk house and open it any time I sleep on the rear bunk the bunkhouse temp is over 75. When I use the bunk my dad and his Chihuahua are using the front queen bed. It has a screen so it is made to be opened.

Be careful if you open it. The lights might start flashing and an alarm could go off...Be careful to latch it properly when you close it. Mine came open once going down the road and bent the hinge but it didn't fall off. I use ours all the time for ventilation.

We have the same type emergency window in the bedroom of our Wilderness 5ver that BurbMan describes. We open it all the time. Our dogs favorite place to lay and watch the world go by.

Had a window like that in the bedroom of our old Sunnybrook. The screen is on the inside and is held in by clips and has a big red handle on it so you can pull if off easily in an emergency. Un-clip the red lever, straighten it out, and push it outwards so the window will open like an awning window. You will find the lever has a detent half way along it so if will clip on the frame and allow the window to be held open as an awning style window. That's why it has a hinge at the top. For egress, push the lever handle all the way through and swing the window up so you can get out.

We used ours all the time, regretfully the new TT doesn't have that.

That window in the pic isn't frameless, I can see the screws attaching the frame to the RV below the blinds.

consider yourself lucky that you've got a screen on the window. Both of mine don't have screens and therefor can't be used for air circulation unless I want bugs in the rig...is a shame too because they are the biggest windows I have that can be opened. I'm trying to come up with a way to screen them but so far no luck!
