We travel a lot in the Winter, with zero and below temps. We have had single and dual pane windows and will not have single pane windows again for our side windows. That said, all coaches will have a non air space laminated windshield which can be a major source of heat loss/gain.
I'm more concerned with condensation than with heat loss/gain. We camp a lot in late winter/early spring. But you understand my concern. We have single pane on the trailer, and I won't make that mistake again.
I agree completely about the importance of a really good floor plan. I won't buy a MH without it. At this point, I'm doing my research to find out what the possibilities are.
There are other absolute "must haves" which seem to be achievable, even when they were optional at the time of manufacture. Full body paint, for example.
Almost no one advertising MHs on-line lists dual pane among the features, even when I see from the brochures that it is standard. My admittedly limited experience at dealers and shows is that it is available only on those where it is standard. When I've asked about it, the salesman's response is either that it is standard, or that it is something I am wrong to want. (Salesmen!)
A number of the 'highly desirables" will be more difficult to find and I'm sure we will have to compromise on some of those.
My conclusion to this point has been that I would be wasting my time, and the sellers, looking at MHs where dual pane is not standard. I'm just asking if my conclusion is wrong.
