All I can say is if my RV were in that building I'd be doing a happy dance right now!! Shhh, don't tell my insurance man I said that.
A friends brother lost his MH in a fire a couple years ago. His insurance would only give him all the $$ IF he replaced. - mike_brezExplorer

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was thinking that. :E - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIDennis,
That's good to know. I have a basic list but we do not update it on a regular basis. With a $5000 limit, it doesn't take a whole lot of cameras, GPS units, TV, DVR's, etc, to reach that amount.
As of today, the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshall and a couple of other organizations as a POSSIBLE arson. There has not been any official announcement yet other than the fire is being investigated. - Executive45Explorer III

Besides full coverage and an agreed upon value for the coach if totaled, my RV insurance also includes $5000 for personal items inside my coach. I have a very basic inventory of items in the RV but I do not have proof of purchase for every piece of clothing, kitchen items, electronic device, or tools stored in the basement.
Has anyone ever dealt with an insurance company claim for personal items?
We had our 40' Tourmaster stolen from a storage lot. They hot wired it and drove it right through the locked gate!..we had AAA at the time...they asked for a written detailed list of what was in the coach and my DW did just that...right down to the salt and pepper shakers, food in the cabinets, beer down below etc. It was very detailed. AAA got with our homeowner's insurance agent and together they paid for everything on our list. Unfortunately, some things have a nebulous value so we had to generalize some things, like a 300 piece tool set that HD no longer carried, but we got what we felt was fair prices for everything. When the coach was recovered many of the items were still in it, including the beer...:h..:B....the coach was destroyed though having been driven through the fence and then had the A/C's lopped off by a low hanging branch. (part of it was still imbedded in the roof)...Dennis - msmith1199Explorer IIAll I can say is if my RV were in that building I'd be doing a happy dance right now!! Take pictures or a video walkthrough. They won't give you a hard time over normal items. You might need a bit more proof if you claim a tiffany necklace or something. - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIBesides full coverage and an agreed upon value for the coach if totaled, my RV insurance also includes $5000 for personal items inside my coach. Has anyone ever dealt with an insurance company claim for personal items? - OhhWellExplorerEvery storage place I have ever used (a whopping total of 2) has required that I not only have coverage on my items but that I also provide proof of that coverage. Most Motorhomes have coverage and if stored for a long time, I am pretty sure they are required to keep comprehensive on the coach.
I doubt that the owner of the facility will be held liable for compensating the owners unless it can be found that the storage lot was negligent in some way. - steveh27ExplorerWhen I 'store' my rv I cancel the insurance EXCEPT for the comprehensive which would cover this.
