Fireplace Pros and Cons

We have looked at a couple of coaches that have fireplaces. What are the pros and cons? Thanks for your advice.

  • My thoughts exactly but I needed a little ammunition for my DH! He wanted to know why it was so important to me.
  • We love ours! Does a good job warming the living space in moderate temps (without using up propane) and adds nice ambiance on inclement days. Ours is a floor to ceiling fieldstone model with the tv mounted above the mantel. The only drawback is losing the large back window in place of the fp. still have two nice size windows on either side of it though.

  • Took apart (removed the wood frame)a cheap FP from Home Depot. Fit perfectly in the knee space of the PO's desk set up. The hardest part was finding a non-inverter circuit.

Had to put grills above and below to allow air into the FP as the fan then blows it out the front. The top and sides remain cool so it was okay to install in the small space.
  • We have had one for years and love it! They do heat up things pretty well. In the summer if it rains we turn off the heat and watch the flames. COOL
  • I put one in our MH. Love it. I was careful to get one with low amp draw (1350 watts) for a heating device. I takes the chill off in the morning and is quiet while watching a movie in the evening.
  • At first I thought what a joke, then I found out they supply heat so acting as a heater and adding beauty and mood I have changed my mind.If you want to give up the space, go for it. I do admit I do not have one .
