Hi Bret. Indeed, what you are being told about CCC is probably accurate. We went to RV shows for years before buying our present Class C and we found units that would be overloaded with just the four of our adult family members on board. True for both Class A & C. The length of the unit adds weight, slideouts add weight, and levelers add weight. So, a question for your family to discuss is would you rather take your family and stuff, or have slideouts and and other goodies and leave the stuff at home? Of course, this is a simplistic question, but one you should discuss (if you haven't) before making a purchase decision. For us, we wanted family and stuff, so we have a 27 foot Class C, no slides, and no levelers. Even loaded for a cross country trip, we weighed in a 1000# under max weight. Best wishes on your search.
