My 2008 Freelander 21QB(32K miles) did something similar(temp gauge started inching up, although it was well below the red zone) - always when we were climbing(in the Mojave area, in July) and when we had the cab ac blowing cool air. As someone else mentioned, try shutting down the cab a/c(it worked for me), and relying on your coach a/c(you'll need to run your generator). Turn it back on when you are descending.
