How many TV antenna have you seen up going down the road

A few years ago we were at a campground north of Spokane, WA having morning coffee and chatting when a DP pulled up to the RV office to hook their toad up and leave the area. Wife drove the rig up, husband hooked it up and they jumped in the coach and began to leave to park. Soon there was the sound of the toads tires squealing on the pavement as they rolled out to hit the highway. I jumped out of our rig and chased them down on foot to let them know. They were thankful.


On our 2016 3 month trip to Alaska we were camped at a park along the Cassiar Hwy and a large 5'er pulled in next to us. I was sitting outside and noticed something hanging from under the rig just inside the right tires. After they began setting up for the night I strolled over and suggested they check the area. Turns out it was the brake line hanging down. Clip had broken, leaving the wiring hanging inches off the road surface. I gave them a large zip tie to hold it up till they found some place to get the bracket fixed or replaced.

After several years of RV'ing I have found that pre departure inspections as well as during rest stops are a must.

A few years ago I was driving on the freeway in busy SoCal traffic. A aging jacked up 4WD Ford Bronco passed me packed full with household items. (the guy was obviously moving) His oversize right rear tire was almost flat. I caught up with him and honked. When he looked at me I pointed at the tire and motioned to him with my thumb and forefinger about an inch apart. The guy voiced a few choice words at me then flipped me off. He continued on. My later guess was that he must have thought I was making reference to the size of his member. Several miles later the tire blew and he rolled the Bronco several times. His household items were now spread all over the freeway and his Bronco was trash, but he was OK.

Driving out to the coast last month...came up to a travel trailer. Their ladder mounted bicycle was dragging along the ground barely held by a strap..

Pulled up along side and my wife jestered and pointed. The guy gave us a dirty look and flipped us off...
My wife told me to get away from him..she thought we might get shot.

Probably because when they check their mirrors everything looks fine then when they look at the road the wind blows the hatch open.. Then the wind blows the hatch closed check your mirrors nothing wrong Wind blows up wind blows down. Not oblivious at all just a matter of timing so when someone tells me my hatch is open it's always appreciated.

I was traveling through Nova Scotia right after a hurricane had past through the wind was pretty nasty and it blew out my window in the bedroom of my fiver.. You can't see that window with your mirrors so I had no idea. When I stopped to fuel I saw the window just hanging their by a thread. Not one person on that highway mentioned the fact that my window was about to kill someone... Talk about lucky it didn't fall off. So in the pouring rain I had the chance to get the window inside the rig and no one got hurt. Phew is all I could say to that and I also pondered why not a single soul told me the window was about to fly off.

Some people are totally oblivious to anything unless it's directly in front of their rig.

When we bought our first DP we were traveling through Richmond, Va when a dump truck started honking and flashing his lights. Being new to the DP part I was thinking "what did I screw up now!". He was persistent, pointing for me to pull over. When I could I pulled, so did he. He came walking back towards the camper and I was thinking "this won't be good". When he got to the window he said "your steps are down".
A wire had come out and the steps weren't automatically retracting when we started up.
We thanked him profusely, brought the steps in and went on our way.
That was 2003 and I think of that every time we drive through Richmond.
I wonder if people have any idea how much the little things they do are appreciated.

I was driving on the interstate when someone honked and pointed at my trailer. Pulled over and found my bumper mounted spare rotated horizontally dragging on the ground. :E

A few weeks back, pulled off the Interstate.
Was a really nice DP waitiing at the light.
I see one of his basement doors is open.
Pull up next to him, starting waving.
He's looking at me kinda weird, like what does this guy want.
I keep waving, so he opens the door.
I say one of your doors is open, he looks back, says "holy ****".
