- Larryr201Explorerthanks j-d You've been very helpful with sharing your knowledge. I'll look into Ready Brute Elite. I saw blue ox installation video on YouTube and was leaning towards buying and installing baseplate myself.
thanks again! - j-dExplorer IIIf you're starting out, no towing equipment already on hand, look at
Ready Brute Elite
Since it's towbar and braking in ONE!
Can be purchased to go with any of the popular baseplates.
For Baseplate, look up all the options for your CR-V and decide which:
1. Mounts at best height for your Coach
2. Is easiest to install
3. Looks best when not in use
Blue Ox, Demco, Roadmaster
4. Requires less cutting/trimming of the bumper fascia - Larryr201ExplorerGood evening folks,Looking for advice on dependable brake system for toad. My plan is to flat tow 2014 Honda CR-V with 2011 Navion IQ MB3500.

thanks in advance! - Gonzo42ExplorerWe tow a Daihatsu Rocky with no problems whatsoever.
- Larryr201ExplorerThanks for the advice. Appreciate the time you spent researching the specifics. The Honda is 2014 CR-V.
- j-dExplorer IIWELCOME!!!
I pulled up the Product Brochure Here and I make the Towing Capacity to be 4,220 pounds. That's nearly 1,000 more than an unloaded CR-V. I base that on the max GVWR (fully loaded weight) of the coach. So if your actual scale weight is less than GVWR then towing would go up, as far as the hitch rating of 5,000.
That Sprinter has a gutsy little diesel. I think you'd be able to "go" anywhere you want to, particularly along the East Coast. Grades in the western mountains would be taxing. Good thing about a turbo diesel is she doesn't get altitude sickness like gassers do. Still, weight is weight.
Spent some time on the brochure: Navion IQ is adorable! Wish you lots of enjoyment with her.
Your CR-V IS 2014 or earlier, right??? The newer ones have a CVT instead of a real transmission and are no longer towable. - 1492ModeratorMoved from Forum Technical Support
- Winnebago_BobExplorerThey do a decent job of pulling just themselves up the hills out here in the PNW.
Guy just down the street used to try to tow with one. He was miserable. I guess it would depend on what you pull.
