It sure sounds like a default has engaged preventing the slide from moving and when you direct wired you by passed it. Recently I had this problem and the bed was totally retracted visually but it took one more push of the switch to remove the default.
I've pushed on that button so many times my finger is sore.:B That was a big grin, don't know what my "preference setting is.:)
