I FOUND THE PROBLEM.
I did move the slide again part way in each direction with the battery directly to the motor. I stopped it partially out, then operated the rocker switch. I noticed the slide would "bump" each way. So, I just barely pushed the switch to the "in" position, part way in, the slide started moving. Pushed the switch all the way to the stop, the slide would quit moving. Did this in both directions. Once the slide started moving out, it would continue, even If I pushed the switch all the way.
Diagnosis........bad rocker switch.
I DO have a spare board now though.
