I have a 2004 Southwind 32VS and it also has power gear slides. I might ask you do you operate the slides with the engine running? The large living room slide drops down when fully extended to end up as the same level of the floor. Now the problem when bringing the slide back IN, the slide motor has to overcome that lifting required to start the slide up that incline. Now with the engine running, the alternator is supplying 14.1 volts to the battery and might just be that extra boost to the slide motor needed to start the slide on its way in. I also have found that the slide is trying to compress the air in the room and if you open the main door, it relieves the pressure. Believe it or not it works. Operating the slide with the engine running is right in the power gear instructions on the switch box above the door, read it. So try it with the engine running and with the main door open and see what happens. Please report back your results, and good luck.
PS I am not aware of a power gear recall on the motor, news to me but I will research it further
