flexible drain hose

We have experienced a frustrating failure of the flexible hose from the kitchen sink to the drain into the grey water tank. The hose has pulled out of the connection, and despite installing a much better clamp for the hose, it still pulls loose and leaks grey water. Has anyone experienced this problem, and if so how did you fix it?

Yes, it is a kitchen slide. It was ok for 9 years (lots of use), then the hose (about 3 to 4 foot flex drain hose) pulled loose at the connection to the rigid plumbing to the grey water tank. It has been "fixed" three times. Once by RV repairman (lasted a week), once by me where I thought I had installed a better clamp just upstream on the flex hose, and once by a dealer repair shop (super tape) which held maybe till the next time the slide was deployed.

Thanks for the great ideas.

I have not had that problem but let me tell you a story.
Many moons ago my parents replaced the washer and dryer in our laundry area. We also had what is called a "Suds Saver" which is to say we saved the wash water and used it for 2 loads. Well the drain line from this sink did not line up with the pipe in the floor and it would have been a Rube Goldburg pluming job to make it line up so I went out to the garage and found.. a 1 1/4" flexible Radiator hose.. Yes, the first flexible drain "Tail piece" far as I know.

I should have patented the idea.

a good 10 years later that hose failed and was replaced.. In the interm my parents got a new house built and moved the Laundry, Hose and all, to the new house.

People at the time told me that hose would never last due to the chemicals and hot water.. It's designed to hold 220 degree (give or take a bit) under around 12 PSI of Chemical (Antifreeze) laden water... Naturally it lasted.
  • We had the same problem on our 05 HR 5th wheel and we replaced the hose with a new hose that was more limber than org. The org. hose was very stiff and pulled off.
  • I suspect you will have to add a bit more drain hose.

This is a common complaint on RV's that have the kitchen in a slide out.
