We do the trip from Michigan (leave Christmas Eve) to Florida every year. We love to go to Nashville on the way down to see the Gaylord, opryland and oprymills….FABULOUS decorations and very festive. 3 campgrounds on Music Valley Drive….yogi bear, two rivers and KOA. We choose the KOA (premium patio site only) because it is concrete with a patio and very level. The others (we've stayed at them all) have a tendency to flood much worse than the KOA. It would be easy to spend 5 days in Nashville going between the downtown clubs, sites, restaurants, act….The General Lee is a great dinner cruise but I don't know if it is open at that time of year.
We've also done the I-75 straight shot thru Chattanooga…..great aquarium, rock city, lookout mountain and other things. Holiday Travel Park is OK but again if it rains it floods something terrible.
Last year we shot from North Florida to Hilton Head Island….great bike trails, restaurants, beaches. Then we went west to Georgia and up to Nashville…..took 2 weeks to get home and a bunch of fun on the way. This year….well I don't plan on heading North till late May or later till the snow and cold are behind us in Michigan
