A - - With the strangest of reasons.
We own and love a specific classic coach. We are not nearly full time but we travel as much as we can afford. (The reason why the limit might ignite a political firestorm.)
As these old coaches require a lot of very specific knowledge to keep road ready, we are members of both an international and several type specific local chapters and often attend the rallies (conventions) of other geographic chapters when we can. As it happens, all these organizations carry their liability insurance through membership in FMCA. While FMCA does allow non-members to attend events, they limit it to one event as a non-member.
As a board member of one of the chapters, we did look at trying to carry our own liability and found the cost prohibitive. I do know that many chapters have also investigated this. This means that FMCA does provide us a valuable service.
