I know this is an older topic, but it's still useful. I had this same problem, and thanks to the advice I took a closer look and found the switch.
I had some contact cleaner ready, but when I looked, I could see the switch, but I couldn't see where the contacts were in order to spray. I did see a lot of crusty dust - 20 years worth.
So what I tried first was compressed air to blow the dust crud out, and it worked!
So try things in this order:
1 - compressed air
2 - contact cleaner
3 - replace the switch yourself
4 - take it to a shop
